This book chapter, co-authored by Mr Hasegawa and Graham Jamieson, is part of a volume entitled Hypnosis and Conscious States: The Cognitive Neuroscience Perspective published by Oxford University Press. Mr Hasegawa explores the cognitive alterations that occur during altered states of consciousness and attempts to draw a bridge between scientific explanation and some unusual aspects of everyday experience
